Dulse (Palmaria plamata)

Dulse

Uses: Culinary and medicinal

Parts Used: Fronds - fresh and dried

Dulse is a red sea vegetable that grows on the northern coast of the Atlantic and Pacific Oceans and has been an important food source for both humans and animals for centuries. Dulse can be eaten as a vegetable – pan-fried, baked or added to soups and stews or dried and eaten like snack chips. Dried and flaked, it is used as a flavor enhancer in many food dishes. Edible seaweeds, including dulse, have strong anti-oxidative properties that help prevent unhealthy cell proliferation. Dulse is high in protein, is a good source of vitamins A,C,E,B-6 and B-12, minerals including calcium, iodine, magnesium and contains all trace elements required by humans.

It is a powerful energy food and a tasteful ingredient in our Happy Bee Herbal Sprinkles.
