Rosemary is a fragrant, evergreen perennial herb native to the Mediterranean region. It is a popular culinary herb used to flavor meats and poultry, stuffing, breads, roasted vegetables and egg dishes. Mediterranean, Italian and French cooking all utilize the deep piney flavor of Rosemary. It is one of the ingredients in the famed Herbes de Provence and lovingly included in our Happy Bee Herbal Sprinkles.

Oil extracted from the Rosemary leaf is used to make medicine. It is used for digestion problems, intestinal gas, liver and gallbladder complaints and loss of appetite. The saying “Rosemary for Remembrance” may be related to the fact that it is used for reducing age-related memory loss. Other uses include gout, cough, headaches and high blood pressure. Rosemary is used topically for preventing and treating baldness, eczema, joint and muscle pain and toothache. You will also find Rosemary in our Inspire Tea.

Garden Tips:

Rosemary is best propagated from tip cuttings. Using a liquid rooting hormone encourages better root formation. Extra warmth and good air circulation are essential. Keep cuttings moist but not soggy, until root structure is strong. Rosemary grows in clumps and plants should be spaced 12-15 inches apart. Full sun and well drained soil keeps Rosemary happy. Harvest tips anytime during growing season.
